Sandra Blow was an English painter born in London in 1925. She studied at Goldsmiths College of Art, the Royal Academy and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.

In the late 1940s she travelled around France and Spain, before returning to England to teach at the Royal College of Art from 1960.

She held her first solo show at Gimpel Fils in 1951 which was followed by many exhibitions in various venues such as John Moores Liverpool, Camden Arts Centre, Highgate Fine Art, Tate St. Ives and Royal Academy where she was also dedicated a retrospective in 1994.She was appointed Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art in 1973.

Blow’s abstract paintings have a strong textural quality as they often incorporate other materials such as polyethylene and willow cane.

She died in 2006 aged 81.
