Paul Barkshire, born in the UK in 1953, studied photography in Canada before returning to England in 1978 and focusing his practice on depicting historic buildings. His work mainly deals with architectural or public art photographs, but it includes unconventional views of the city, such as minor roads and suburban areas. He always prints the full images and never crops or scales his shots.

He has exhibited widely across Europe including an exhibition at the Photographers’ Gallery in 1984.
